Ethos Music Center is a Portland-based nonprofit music organization founded in 1998 with a mission to make the benefits of music education accessible to everyone. Working closely with students, families, and community advocates, Ethos identifies and helps remove barriers that can prevent students from accessing music education. Since its beginnings as a volunteer-run program in a University of Portland basement, Ethos has grown to employ more than 30 part-time music instructors and a dedicated administrative staff, reaching thousands of students each year through music education and community programs.
